What would you say are the biggest differences between this year’s team and last year’s team? I think our biggest difference this year is our style of play. We play more as a team and we all rely on each other instead of just certain people.
Due to the players you lost to graduation last year, you have been asked to take on a much larger role for the team, particularly when it comes to scoring. What has that been like for you? It has definitely been a loss, but I think everyone has stepped up, and I’m just doing my part.
How are the overall expectations of the team similar or different than previous seasons? I believe we expect to play our hardest for every game, and we know not to underestimate any team. We have a big target on our backs from last season.
Last Thursday, you beat a good Thomas Johnson team on the road that was undefeated, and you scored three goals to raise your total to 10 already this season. What did that win do for your mindset and the overall mindset of the team? It was definitely a confidence boost for us. We had a couple of tough games earlier this season. So, it felt good to beat an undefeated team. Our mindset as a team is to focus on each game as it comes and not to overlook anyone.
What would constitute a successful season in your mind? I think every team’s goal is to win states. But like my teammate, Miranda Timberlake, says, “If we play every game like it’s our last” I think we definitely have a shot.
